Every dump in the trash!

Our commitment to water protection and a clean media port continues: We have just installed the third outdoor ashtray at Marina Düsseldorf so that cigarette butts no longer end up in the harbor basin.

Raising awareness among smokers

Our cooperation partner TobaCircle takes care of the proper disposal. At present, this is only possible via the waste incineration plant. But through public relations, TobaCircle is campaigning for more and more smokers to act responsibly and throw their dumps in the trash can instead of into nature.

New garbage vacuum for clean-ups

We have also upgraded the technical equipment: Our volunteers can now remove cigarette butts in the media port with a professional garbage vacuum cleaner instead of a broom and dustpan. The device can also be used for clean-ups on sandy beaches. Thanks to our dedicated team!

Dumps are poisonous and durable

Studies show that one cigarette per liter of water is enough to kill fish. Other aquatic organisms such as bacteria, mussels, crabs and insects are also poisoned by dumping. They are even fatal to birds if they mistake and eat them for food. Cigarette filters are made of cellulose acetate, a bio-based plastic, so it often takes several years for them to break down. That's why: Every dump in the trash!
